Jagged Little Pill reissue to celebrate 20 years of irony
Unlike ra-eee-ain on your wedding day, there’s nothing ironic about Alanis Morissette putting out a special edition of Jagged Little Pill this October to celebrate the album’s 20th anniversary. That’s because this year is the 20th anniversary of the release of Jagged Little Pill, so there’s literally nothing ironic about this unless it includes a free ride when you’ve already paid or 10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife. Or maybe you’re driving to the record store to buy a copy of the reissue, and you’re running late, and then there’s a traffic jam. Or, better yet, you’re 98-years old, Alanis Morissette reissues Jagged Little Pill, and then you die the next day. That would be ironic.
Rolling Stone says the reissue will be available on October 30, and—in addition to the original album—it’ll include three bonus discs featuring a (previously released) acoustic version of Jagged Little Pill, a full live concert recorded in 1995, and 10 unreleased demos recorded around the time Morissette was making the album. It’ll also have a special booklet with never-before-seen photos and “a reflective essay” that Morissette wrote about the album and “that era of her life.” Also, if you’re surprised that it has already been 20 years since Jagged Little Pill came out, well, life has a funny way of sneaking up on you.
