Netflix would prefer you didn’t watch the trailer for Lemony Snicket’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events

The full trailer for Netflix’s series adapting Lemony Snicket’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events has arrived in all of its Burtonesque glory, accompanied by a press release instructing potential viewers to “avert your eyes from the tragic and horrible sight.”

Should you decide to defy this edict and watch the trailer anyway, you’ll get a good look at Neil Patrick Harris as the devious Count Olaf, who acquires custody of orphans Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes), and Sunny Baudelaire as part of the aforementioned series of events. After discovering Olaf’s scheme to steal their inheritance, the Baudelaire siblings escape and embark on an adventure to find out what happened to their parents, pursued by Olaf in a series of outlandish disguises.

Lemony Snicket’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events begins on Netflix on January 13 (yep, that’s a Friday).
