During your daily hours of dreamy Ryan Gosling contemplation, did you find yourself suddenly fretting over how the rising star could possibly headline Gangster Squad, remake Logan’s Run, play cop cat and motorcycle mouse with Bradley Cooper, and both direct and star in a remake of Taylor Hackford’s The Idolmaker—all while taking the time for Ryan Gosling to just be Ryan Gosling? As it turns out, so did Ryan Gosling, and he’s now backed out of The Idolmaker completely, at least for now. Nevertheless, MGM says it will continue to develop the picture and, as Deadline puts it, “If Gosling is available, they will revisit it down the line.” That’s it, MGM. Play it cool.
