Trump’s Labor nominee once sued a rival for implying he served ass burgers
Andy Puzder, Donald Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Labor and noted humorless killjoy, is chief executive of the restaurant group behind Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. And as CNN dug up, Puzder once sued fast food rival Jack In The Box for suggesting his burgers contains meat from a cow’s ass.
See, the whole to-do boils down to playground humor, namely the idea that you can’t spell “Angus” beef without “anus” beef. That was the implication of Jack In The Box’s 2007 ad in which its spherical titular company head refused to point which part of a cow Angus comes from.
Thing is, neither Carl’s Jr. nor Hardee’s was ever mentioned by name in the commercial. But according to an interview with the Associated Press after his CKE Restaurant filed suit, Puzder said: “They’re not being funny. They need to stop misleading people about what Angus beef is.”
The case was ultimately settled and dismissed, though not before Puzder’s legal team attempted to invoke the “I know you are but what am I” defense.
