Watch Tim Kinsella dance naked to his new song, “Issues”
Over the course of his career, Tim Kinsella has found little use for repetition. He’s been the anchor of such influential bands as Cap’n Jazz, Joan Of Arc, and Owls, but his recent work has run the gamut from scoring an experimental theater production to recording songs written by the poet Marvin Tate. Kinsella’s latest venture will leave even more room for exploration as Joyful Noise has announced he’s the label’s “Artist In Residence” for 2015. Over the course of the year the label will release two full-length albums, a 10-inch and 7-inch EP, a book, and a special art object, with the items all to be housed in a screen-printed, wooden box. The A.V. Club is premiering the video for one of the songs from Kinsella’s residency, ”Issues,” which sees him gleefully dancing in the buff to the thundering electro-pop track. While the song is a hooky exploration of modern isolation, the video isn’t totally safe-for-work, what with a few shots of Kinsella’s bare backside occasionally bursting into view.
