With Fox and NBC fighting over who loves American Idol more, ABC has decided to just make a new singing competition. This one won’t be like American Idol or The Voice, though, as it will have one very specific bonus: a cornucopia of cute boys. According to Variety, ABC has given a 10-episode order to Boy Band, a singing competition show based around forming the next great boy band (or girl band, or boy-girl band). Apparently, the competition will involve singers trying to get one of five spots in the group, with the winners getting a recording contract with Hollywood Records.
The show doesn’t have a host or judges yet, but apparently “a number of boy band and girl band members past and present” are being sought for both the host and judge positions. Also, the judges will be called “architects” instead of judges, which is pretty weird and silly. Hopefully the host will be called a “foreman” or something. Boy Band will debut at some point this summer.
