Bounce TV pulls Cosby reruns

The move comes in the wake of new evidence unearthed by the AP that, in 2005, Cosby admitted under oath to purchasing Quaaludes with the intent of using them to drug women. Cosby’s lawyers stopped him short of outright admitting to sexual assault during the deposition, but the evidence is consistent with the testimony of more than 40 women who say Cosby drugged and raped them using a similar M.O. But, due to societal factors that we don’t have room to unpack here but are very depressing, it took the words coming directly from Cosby’s mouth for some to believe the accusations. The lawyer for one of Cosby’s accusers, model Janice Dickinson, calls the evidence a “game changer,” and Jill Scott, a singer who previously defended Cosby, says she no longer will. (Others, like Whoopi Goldberg, are still defending Cosby.)

Incidentally, The Wrap reports that it was Cosby’s self-appointed moral watchdog status that led Judge Eduardo C. Robreno to agree to unseal the court documents that led to this newest round of evidence against Cosby. “[Cosby] has donned the mantle of public moralist and mounted the proverbial electronic or print soap box to volunteer his views on, among other things, childrearing, family life, education, and crime…He has voluntarily narrowed the zone of privacy that he is entitled to claim,” Robreno says.
