In Self/Less, Ben Kingsley plays a dying billionaire named Damian who opts to have his consciousness transferred into a young, fit host body (Ryan Reynolds), so that he can prolong his life. Anyone want to place bets on whether or not things go smoothly for Damian? No stranger to twisty, mind-bending material, Tarsem Singh (The Fall, The Cell) directs Kingsley and young, fit host body (err, we mean Ryan Reynolds) in the sci-fi thriller, costarring Matthew Goode, Michelle Dockery, and Victor Garber. Self/Less opens nationwide on July 10, but The A.V. Club and Focus Features have an opportunity for you to see it for free on July 6. For your chance to win a pair of passes to the advance screening, simply follow the link here and enter your information. As always, seats will be first come, first served, so be sure to arrive early. You can find the (rather lengthy) plot synopsis and trailer for the film below.

“Billionaire industrialist Damian Hale (Ben Kingsley) has long been a master of his universe, excelling at power plays from his NYC base of operations. But a dire cancer diagnosis makes Damian determined to access a radical medical procedure, ‘shedding,’ that will turn back the clock for him. The process is offered to Damian by Albright (Matthew Goode), the brilliant head of a secret organization that caters to the wealthy. Damian seizes the opportunity, and his death is staged. The world now thinks he is gone, but he is in fact ‘shedding:’ his consciousness is being transferred into the body of a healthy man (Ryan Reynolds) decades younger than he. Both preserving his newfound health and indulging himself, Damian becomes comfortable in his new identity as Edward. But the disturbing images flooding his consciousness are not easily explained away by Albright’s contention that ‘immortality has some side effects.’ When he finds himself drawn to single mother Madeline (Natalie Martinez), Damian starts to uncover the mystery of ‘Edward’s’ origin – and those who will kill to protect the organization. Summoning two lifetimes’ worth of strength and resourcefulness, Damian fights for his life and for the lives that he has impacted.”
