Get Involved, Internet: Help save this adorable cat actor
2014 was a banner year for animal performances in film, like the title feline wandering around the edges of the frame in The Strange Little Cat, canine Roxy’s star turn in Goodbye To Language, the little dog stealing every shot in Closed Curtain, and Fluffy The Cat glancing soulfully off-camera throughout Listen Up Philip.
However, while Listen Up Philip was being readied for theaters, Fluffy—who plays Gadzookey, the cat that effectively replaces abrasive writer Philip (Jason Schwartzman) in the life of his sort-of-ex-girlfriend, Ashley Kane (Elisabeth Moss)—was going through rounds of medical tests, leading to a lymphoma diagnosis weeks before the release.
The good news is that it’s treatable. The bad news is that, like most serious veterinary care, it’s expensive, which is why Listen Up Philip director Alex Ross Perry, who lives with the aptly-named feline and reportedly spent his Locarno Special Jury Prize money on treatment, is turning to GoFundMe to help pay for further treatment.
You can donate here, and live knowing that you’ve contributed to the health and well-being of the feline star of the one of the best films of 2014. Just look at that face.
