Like Marcy, Franklin, Peppermint Patty, and friends in A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, this year may have left you feeling like you’ve been served jelly beans and buttered toast when what you really wanted was turkey and mashed potatoes. And we here at The A.V. Club can’t help but agree. But while there isn’t a bright side to every dark cloud that’s loomed over 2016, we still have some things to be thankful for.
Because while the deaths of our favorite artists may leave us full of sadness, they also serve as a poignant reminder to cherish those we have while they’re still here. And while the political landscape we live in grows more confusing and unnerving by the day, we still have each other, and this place where we can come to discuss what’s happening, support one another, and make goofy puns about it all. That’s what we’re thankful for, and we hope that, at some point during this crazy fucked-up year, that we were able to make you smile, even if it was merely a cynical smirk. (We know all about those.) That’s what we’re working for, because we appreciate all of you, and we want you to be happy and safe.
