Here's what's coming to Showtime in December
As the weather gets colder—and our pathological urge to be inside where it’s nice and toasty gets stronger—the need for fresh streaming content gets stronger and stronger. Hence us (possibly temporarily) adding Showtime to our roster of streaming libraries we keep an eye on every month, as the network drops some much-anticipated season premieres—and a whole bunch of older films of highly varying quality—onto its end-of-year roster.
Most notably, this December will see the eighth season finale of Shameless, as the Gallagher family continues its feckless dalliances with redemption and rehabilitation. The end of the year will also see the end-of-season for shows like SMILF, Jay Pharoah’s White Famous, and Ill Behaviour.
Over on the movie side of things, Showtime is apparently going out of its way to fill its ranks with high-profile bombs; those looking for a holiday endurance test can direct themselves toward iconically awful fare like Gigli and Battlefield Earth, nestled right in along Kramer Vs. Kramer and the original Assault On Precinct 13. Christmas-minded watchers are out of luck, though; beyond last year’s Office Christmas Party, you’ll have to content yourself with the wholesome holiday vibes of Heavy Metal or Con Air.
