Liam Gallagher says Beady Eye has broken up
After Oasis ended in 2009, Liam Gallagher—along with Oasis members Andy Bell and Gem Archer—opted to continue on as the band Beady Eye, releasing a pair of albums under the moniker. After five years together, that band has now come to an end.
Beady Eye’s dissolution was announced via a pair of tweets from Gallagher and Bell, who offered zero explanation as to why it was over.
The speculation sweeping the Internet is that Beady Eye’s demise is tied to an Oasis reunion—something that Gallagher has seemingly been trying to will into existence, both by having Beady Eye play Oasis songs in concert and tweeting the band’s name, an act that incited all kinds of rumors as well. An Oasis reunion is something that Noel Gallagher has continually rebuked, and he was happy to do it all over again in the wake of Beady Eye’s dissolution, saying it would be a “backwards step.” Still, even with Noel remaining staunchly anti-reunion, those rumors will continue to swirl—and as the brothers Gallagher continue to bicker about their past, fans will continue to long for them to do so onstage again, as opposed to just in the press.
