Mamiffer makes isolation inviting in the video for “Parthenogenesis”
For its upcoming fourth album, The World Unseen, Faith Coloccia and Aaron Turner pushed Mamiffer’s sound to the brink. Though Mamiffer has always been based around Coloccia’s voice and piano, the band has never felt as consumingly heavy as this. The A.V. Club is premiering the video for “Parthenogenesis,” the album’s closing track and a true standout. Against stark, black-and-gray footage, “Parthenogenesis” plays like the score to an abstract art piece, with Coloccia’s voice taking on the qualities of a haunting breeze that only becomes more disconcerting as it comes closer.
The World Unseen will be released on April 1, and pre-orders are available now through Sige Records.
