Stream Confirmation Bias, Yeesh’s second album of Shellac-indebted post-hardcore

While Chicago trio Yeesh has a sound that feels akin to San Diego post-hardcore acts such as Drive Like Jehu and Hot Snakes, its closest modern comparison would be to its Chicago compatriots in Meat Wave. For Yeesh’s second album, Confirmation Bias, the band has joined up with Tiny Engines, the label that got lumped in with the recent crop of emo bands but has never been focused on one specific sound. The A.V. Club is streaming all of Confirmation Bias below ahead of the album’s release on July 22. Confirmation Bias sees Yeesh at its most polished, able to insert classic-rock soloing (“World Building”) next to songs that rage harder than ever has before (“Speechless”). In many ways, Yeesh functions like a less-sardonic Shellac, using chest-rattling bass lines and prickly guitars in the same way, but with a twinge of optimism that makes all that tension rewarding.

Pre-orders for Confirmation Bias are available now through Tiny Engines.
