Woody Allen’s next film has a title

Over the course of his 50-year career, director Woody Allen has made many good films, and even the ones that weren’t up to par usually had good titles. With titles that were archetypal (Husbands And Wives), playful (Sweet And Lowdown), and even comically verbose (Everything You’ve Always Wanted To Know About Sex But Were Afraid To Ask), Allen has always known how to fill out a marquee. Thus, it’s been no fun to refer to his latest film simply as “the untitled project.” That all ends today, as the movie now has an official title: Irrational Man.

Details about the movie are scarce, besides that Sony Pictures Classics has acquired all North American rights to distribute it and that it will star Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, Parker Posey, and relative newcomer Jamie Blackley. It’s also known that Allen shot part of it in Rhode Island, home to irrational men who think it’s okay for the smallest U.S. state to have the longest name. That’s probably not what the movie is about, though. Boy, this speculation-by-title thing was probably a lot easier back when we were talking about Manhattan Murder Mystery.
