The Powerpuff Girls is coming back

It looks like January’s Dance Pantsed was just a test run: The Powerpuff Girls is returning to series in 2016 on Cartoon Network. There’s very little other information right now—though Variety has an official press release—but based on Dance Pantsed, this new Powerpuff Girls will likely be in the same animation style of CGI crossed with anime (but not nearly as terrible as that sounds).

As the special went ahead without creator Craig McCracken and writer Lauren Faust (who went on to develop My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic), it’s hard to imagine they’ll return for the new series. But there’s a very good chance the reboot could snag the original voice actors—Tara Strong as Bubbles, Elizabeth Daily as Buttercup, and Cathy Cavadini as Blossom—who all reunited for January’s special.
