HBO to release its Sunday shows early so you can watch the Oscars
For people who really want to see what kind of entertainingly self-destructive shenanigans Hannah Horvath and the girls from Girls get up to this week but also don’t want to miss La La Land winning every award at the Oscars, HBO has come up with a surprisingly elegant solution: It’s just going to let you stream the new episodes of its Sunday shows early. The premium cable network announced this plan with a press release that specifically acknowledges that it’s trying to stay away from the Oscars, and it says that this week’s new episodes of Girls, Big Little Lies, and Crashing will all be available on HBO Now, HBO Go, and HBO On Demand services starting on Friday, February 24.
The press release doesn’t say anything about this early streaming scheme extending past this week, but HBO could easily start doing the same thing for future Sunday night events.
